Church Profile

Calvary Chapel Petaluma, a non-denominational church connected with the global network of Calvary Chapel churches, began its journey in 1995 with a small congregation meeting in a dance studio. In 2004, at just 23 years old, Zach Vestnys became the Lead Pastor. Under Pastor Zach’s stewardship and divine guidance, the church has flourished, growing to host multiple weekend services with a regular attendance exceeding 600.

Despite this growth, the church has always rented its worship space. They set aside funds yearly, prayerfully awaiting the right opportunity for property ownership. Many potential sites came and went, but none felt Spirit-led until recently.

Post-COVID, the commercial real estate market presented new opportunities. In 2023, a nearby property became available. Initially seen as too large and costly, obstacles were miraculously overcome with the seller, city, architects, and contractors. The remaining challenge was securing financing.

Cass Bank Solution

In January 2024, Cass Commercial Bank provided the financing that allowed Calvary Chapel Petaluma to acquire a 56,456-squarefoot office complex. Cass Bank structured two different loans to fit the situation: one which was right-sized for the long-term needs of the church and another matching the current tenant’s lease term, enabling the church to successfully bring the project to fruition.

Initially designed for offices, renovation plans included converting part of the first floor into a sanctuary seating up to 900 people—an increase from their current capacity of 400. Additional renovations will create fellowship areas, a café, and a dedicated wing for children and youth. The site also offers ample parking, with space for 160 cars on-site and additional parking available nearby.

Cass Bank’s Christ-centered counsel helped us arrive at a straightforward, uncomplicated loan structure that was creative, timely, and flexible. From the very first meeting, we felt like we were working with like-minded people who had our best interests in mind.

We are excited to see the ways that God will expand how we can serve people in this new space. While our building will be new, our mission to love God, love people, serve, and reach the world will continue to shape our church.
